The Spectacular Banyan Tree – Bangkok

*This is our personal opinion, this blog is in no way sponsored or commissioned by The Banyan Tree Hotel

As you can tell from the subject matter on our website, we love to travel, with South East Asia being by far our favourite destination. Over the past 9 years travelling there, we have stayed in many many nice hotels, some cheap, some stylish, some completely insane – check out episode 2 of The Adventurous Bug takes you to Thailand on our YouTube channel to see what we mean – but one hotel really stands out, that hotel is the Banyan Tree in Bangkok and we felt compelled to dedicate an entire blog post to this stunning place.

We were lucky enough to find an amazing package deal that saw us in a Club-Class room with two free meals in their world-renowned restaurants included in the price. We booked a two-night stay and it included express personal check-in, happy hour, fresh fruit in the room, turndown service, access to the Living Room with complimentary snacks and (non-alcoholic) drinks from 7 am-7 pm and the kind of breakfast spread that will have you skipping lunch!! Our room was stunning, from the comfiest bed you can imagine to a choice of different pillows depending on your preference, a proper coffee machine and a bathtub…oh that bathtub! Situated next to a full-length window (one-way mirror glass of course) that offers you a view of the Bangkok skyline with a complimentary bottle of red wine too…at night the view is incredible! The room had it all and the hotel blew us away, so much so that on the first day, following our flight in from Cambodia, we decided not to leave at all and spent hours walking around the hotel and enjoying our room. This is definitely not the norm for us as we usually throw our backpacks down and we’re straight back out the door but we rarely stay in places as extravagant as the Banyan Tree so we wanted to take in the Club-Class as it would most likely be our only opportunity. From the moment you enter the hotel the greeting from the staff is so warm and with such kindness that you immediately feel special and that you never want to leave…but then again this is Thailand so this is very normal. Every night we would find gifts next to our bed which was a lovely touch and shows the class of this hotel.

As we mentioned, as part of our package, we were lucky enough to have two dinners included, one at the outstanding Bai Yun Chinese restaurant situated on the 59th floor and the other at Vertigo roof-top on the 61st floor where all lights are purposely dimmed low in order to marvel at the stars above and the stunning city lights below. Both dinners were outstanding but for a hotel like Banyan Tree, you really wouldn’t expect anything less. The dress code is stylish casual, no shorts or flip-flops as they have a dress code for all their restaurants.Β  Also on the 61st floor, is the famous Moon Bar but, as you would expect, cocktails are quite pricey and it gets very busy so reservations are a must.

The outdoor swimming pool has top quality loungers with pool service but I will say for a hotel like this we did expect the pool to be a lot bigger but hey not everything is perfect. We did enjoy a morning swim and it was very relaxing.

There is an award-winning spa, however, we’re unable to comment as we didn’t get the opportunity to experience it as the prices were a little beyond our budget…although the pics below show how gorgeous it was.

The hotel itself has 327 rooms and is located in the Sathorn area with a BTS & MRT station within close walking distance. As with most hotels, they offer differing room levels, starting from the Horizon, moving up to Club level, then the spectacular Spa Sanctuary and up to the different league that is the Presidential Suite…If you want to really spoil yourself.

With a dozen dining options serving anything from snacks to A la carte menus you will certainly have plenty of choices whenever you feel like a bite to eat, many of which are renowned for their quality, and some of those, award-winning

Bangkok has no shortage of great places to stay, from the low-cost rooms to the ultra extravagant and we’ve been lucky enough to have travelled there and stayed in countless places along the way but few have managed to make us yearn to return like the Banyan Tree. And return we will as we recently received word that the Banyan Tree Group were offering huge discounts and upgrades for many of their prime locations….including Bangkok!! So dive in we did and purchased a voucher valid until 2021, giving us the freedom to book when all the current craziness eases and we’re once again able to travel. We cannot wait to return to our beautiful Bangkok…..and we cannot wait to return to the spectacular Banyan Tree!!

Happy Travels!
